Still fighting this issue, today I am challenged with an iPhone user who just wants to view a shared mailbox calendar with their iPhone. Gmail, easy, done in five seconds. Exchange, not so much.
Here's what I've learned since my earlier post:
Some devices allow multiple Exchange/ActiveSync profiles to be installed. This is great for viewing multiple calendars, unless they are shared calendars and have the user objects disabled, they can be manually enabled. Then you run into the problem
of the passwords expiring on accounts other than the users account, which can be manually set to not expire.
You can publish calendars to the Internet using OWA and Calendar Sharing if it is enabled on the Exchange organization, but there is no security to the page, if someone has the correct link to the shared published calendar, they can view the contents.
Does anyone know if authentication can be added to this? As is, with no security the calendar cannot be displayed with an iPhone, browser not supported, click here for a list of supported browsers.
There are dozens of third party apps that can be installed to view a shared calendar, all of which that I've tested required the login credentials of the mailbox. Does anyone know of any that do not require the login credentials of the shared mailbox,
I'd like to leave the account disabled if possible.
If you have fought this battle and have had any success in other ways, I'd appreciate hearing them.
